Dessert
Tongshui (糖水), also referred to as dessert or sweet soup, is a famous snack in Guangdong Province. Cantonese people love sweet soup so much that we often find them in Hong Kong dramas and movies. Sweet soup, like soup, is what the Cantonese are best at, and some people call the two together as "tang water" (tang refers to savoury soup, water refers to sweet soup). Sweet soup can be enjoyed as dessert or supper after meals. It mainly refers to desserts that are cooked with ingredients that can reduce heaty symptoms and are added with water and sugar. The famous Cantonese-style syrup is mainly sweet potato syrup, fresh milk snow fungus, peach gum, poplar nectar, double skin milk, ginkgo, yuba and barley.
